Anantnag, Apr 30: The College Annual Road Race 2026 was successfully conducted at Government Degree College Anantnag under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Kashmir Abhiyan and the Fit India Movement.
The event was organized by the Department of Physical Education with the objective of promoting physical fitness, discipline, and awareness against substance abuse among students, said Head of the Department of Physical Education, Dr. Raof Bhat.
Around 150 students participated in the race with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
The race commenced from the college campus and proceeded till Al-Sarwat Convent School, K.P. Road Anantnag. The participation of students reflected the inclusive and energetic spirit of the institution.
The event also served as an awareness initiative, conveying a strong message in support of a drug-free society in alignment with the vision of a “Nasha Mukt Kashmir” and a healthier India.
Faculty members ensured the smooth conduct of the event, maintaining discipline and coordination throughout.
The Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad malik, in his message, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee.
He emphasized that such initiatives play a vital role in shaping responsible citizens by promoting physical well-being alongside social awareness.
He further stated that the youth must act as ambassadors of change, spreading the message of a drug-free Kashmir and adopting healthy lifestyles in line with the ideals of the Fit India Movement.
He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to organizing more such activities aimed at holistic student development.
At the conclusion of the event, the winners were felicitated with mementoes and certificates of appreciation while all participants were awarded medals for their active involvement.
